Child Weight Management

With expert support, fun and practical activities, and a focus on achievable changes, our Child Weight Management Service gives families the confidence and tools they need to live healthier, happier lives.

Empowering families to live healthier, happier lives

In partnership with Maximus, we are committed to helping children, young people, and families build healthier habits, boost confidence, and embrace active, balanced lifestyles. Together, we’re making it easier (and more enjoyable) for families to create meaningful, lasting change – one positive step at a time.

About the Child Weight Management programme

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Child Weight Management Service supports families to make physical activity and healthy eating a natural part of daily life. Our mission is to tackle childhood obesity and reduce health inequalities by giving families the tools, knowledge, and encouragement they need to thrive.

This service is delivered across the region by Maximus, a nationally recognised health organisation known for providing expert-led lifestyle programmes that help children and young people build sustainable, healthy routines.

At Living Better, we are rooted in community and powered by movement. Our designated Child Weight Management Delivery Officer works directly with children, young people, and families – helping them understand the benefits of physical activity for both physical health and mental wellbeing. All guidance is personalised, accessible, age‑appropriate, and designed to fit real family life.

Through Maximus, families can benefit from a wide range of child-friendly, engaging programmes, including:

Beezee Families

Available online or in person. To access the in‑person family pathway, a child must be at or above the 91st centile. Families must also live in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough and have children aged 4-17 who are above their ideal weight based on the NHS BMI centile chart.

Beezee Youth

A wellbeing and healthy lifestyle programme ideal for 12-17 year olds, co-designed with young people, offering personalised action plans and opportunities to join local events and projects.

Specialist 1:1 Support

Tailored for 4-17 year olds with medical, behavioural, or emotional needs, delivered by experienced health coaches and family support workers.

Are you a health professional wanting to
refer a patient?

Professionals can refer a child or young person directly through the Maximus referral form on the programme website here. The form allows referrers to select the appropriate pathway – family programme, teen programme, or 1:1 support.

Once referred, families are matched to the programme that best suits their needs, lifestyle, and goals.

How to sign up

Getting started is quick and simple.
