About Golden Games
Thanks to the generous support of The Masonic Foundation, we have launched our Golden Games project. This life changing project, is led by our expert Programme Delivery Officer, Kieran Spitzer and offers inclusive, low‑intensity physical activity to residents living with dementia across care homes in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The programme is specially designed to increase residents’ activity levels, support their health and wellbeing, and build confidence with movement without dementia being a barrier to an active lifestyle.
Our work doesn’t end here, not only do we deliver these weekly sessions, we also provide specialist, sustainable upskilling training to support care home staff to co-ordinate activities long after the programme ends. We do this by working 1:1 with residents and staff, share training materials, and offer free downloadable Games Guide resources.
We are running this project over three years, and aim to engage 20–24 care homes and support more than 288 residents through enjoyable, life changing movement.
What the Sessions Include
We are currently working with three care homes already: Swan House (Fenland), Cambridge Manor (Cambridge City), and Cherry Hinton Care Home (Cambridge City).
Each care home receives a specially designed, structured programme that focuses on enjoyment, accessibility and sustainability:
- 4–5 weeks of taster sessions featuring a wide range of games‑based, low‑intensity activities
- 2–3 weeks of staff upskilling supporting care staff to confidently deliver sessions in‑house
- 1–2 weeks of supported in‑house delivery helping embed activities into everyday routines
All sessions are tailored to residents’ needs and are designed to be inclusive, dementia‑friendly, and adaptable to different abilities.
Equipment and resources are provided to ensure high quality delivery.
