National Governing Bodies (NGBs)
At Living Better we work closely with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to strengthen local sport and physical activity opportunities across our region. By aligning national insight with local knowledge, we help NGBs connect meaningfully with communities, grow participation, and make activity more inclusive and accessible. Through collaboration, innovation, and shared ambition, we support the development of sustainable programmes that create lasting impact for people and places we care about helping clubs, volunteers, and organisations. We offer support with safeguarding, signposting, club resources, and funding opportunities.
Understanding the role of National Governing Bodies
National Governing Bodies (NGBs) oversee the development, regulation, and safe delivery of each sport across the UK. For sports club, safeguarding, and volunteers, understanding and engaging with the correct NGB is essential for ensuring safe, inclusive, and well‑governed environments.
- Regulating the environment of their sport
- Developing rules, safeguarding policies, and welfare standards
- Supporting clubs with governance, training, and safe recruitment
- Coordinating participation, coaching pathways, and competition structures
