The AEPG Great Eastern Run 2024 saw 30 Living Better runners tackle the half-marathon route to support and inspire healthy and active lifestyles across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough!
The Living Better participated as one of the official charity partners at The AEPG Great Easter Run on Sunday, 13th October 2024. With a team of 30 runners taking part across both the 5K and the half-marathon, Living Better used this opportunity to champion healthier and more active lifestyles. From the event village to the finish line, all supporters and participants came together to celebrate movement, teamwork and community spirit.
Supporting Community Health Through Running
The event also highlighted the strong and growing partnership between Living Better and local health and care organisations across the region. During Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run, 10 dedicated runners proudly took part on behalf of Living Better, including six participants from the North Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Care Partnership Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. Their involvement showcased the positive collaboration between community well-being initiatives and local healthcare services working together to encourage healthier lifestyles.
Taking part in the AEPG Great Eastern Run demonstrated how physical activity can do far more than improve fitness alone. It can strengthen teamwork, boost morale, support mental well-being, and inspire healthier habits both inside the workplace and throughout local communities. Participants Amber and Tanina spoke about the impact movement has had within their teams, explaining how even small actions, such as going for a walk outdoors or taking part in community events, can lead to meaningful, long-term improvements in well-being, connection, and overall community health.
Living Better has helped us promote healthier lifestyles within our teams and communities. Their support with the Active Practice Charter has been instrumental in driving positive change. Encouraging even small steps, like a walk in the fresh air, can have a lasting impact. The AEPG Great Eastern Run event allows us to model that for our colleagues, partners and local communities – Amber and Tanina, our 5K runners from the North Care Partnership Integrated Neighbourhood Team.
Personal Achievements and Team Spirit
At the AEPG Great Eastern Run, 20 runners proudly represented Living Better in the challenging 13.1-mile race through the streets of Peterborough. Among the participants were three Living Better employees, highlighting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to leading by example of promoting healthier, more active lifestyles both within the workplace and across local communities.
The event was filled with inspiring moments and personal achievements, including two runners reaching impressive new personal bests after months of dedication and training. Supporters from Living Better were there throughout the day to encourage participants, creating an uplifting and energetic atmosphere from start to finish. The sense of teamwork, determination, and community spirit on display perfectly reflected the charity’s mission to inspire people of all ages and abilities to become more physically active and connected through movement.
